The Teatre-Museu Dalí in Figueres, opened in 1974, was conceived and designed by Salvador Dalí himself and is widely regarded as the largest surrealist object in the world. Housed in the city's former municipal theater, it holds the most extensive collection of the artist's work, with more than 1,500 pieces spanning painting, drawing, sculpture, holograms, installations and other formats, charting his career from early experiments through his iconic surrealist period to his late works.
